Siva has been practicing law for more than two decades. He is skilled in the art of negotiation and he is adept at reaching settlements that are advantageous to his clients. 

Siva’s wide-ranging expertise in intellectual property encompasses trademarks, registered design, patents, copyright and confidential information.

He has advised companies on the strategic management of their intellectual property assets, including how they can leverage on the value of such assets, in addition to the critical work in ensuring they are properly registered and protected by the law. 

As a commercial lawyer, Siva is extensively involved in drafting contractual agreements, including but not limited to joint-venture, shareholder and settlement agreements as well as tenancy agreements for commercial premises, and deed of guarantee.

His work in the commercial sector also extends to advising creditors on debt recovery and bankruptcy proceedings.

Siva has handled trust and estate matters involving wills, obtaining grant of probate and letters of administration (including in foreign jurisdictions) and creation of trusts. He handled both contentious and non-contentious matters and he was also involved in complex trust related cases.

He has long-standing experience in all matters related to family law, with a preference to mediate and explore settlements. He has handled numerous cases relating to divorce and custody, division of assets and adoption. 

Siva is an adjunct lecturer with the Essec French Business School. He lectures in intellectual property, international business law and business ethics. In the 2nd quarter of 2018, he received the Lecturer of the Year award globally across all their campuses. Founded in 1907, ESSEC Business School is one of the top business schools in the World with campuses in France, Morocco and Singapore.

He also volunteers with legal clinics run by the State Courts of Singapore as part of Skandan Law’s pro-bono commitments.

Siva graduated from the National University of Singapore with a degree in Law in 1995.

  • Acted for clients in contentious proceedings related to infringement of copyright, trademarks, patents and confidential information.

  • Advised clients on intellectual property issues relating to registration of trademarks, registered designs and patents.

  • Acted for numerous clients in litigation, mediation and alternative dispute resolution proceedings encompassing a wide range of practice areas.

  • Advised corporate clients in relation to internal investigations for corporate fraud, employee misconduct and whistle-blowing related investigations.

  • Advised on numerous conveyancing and property transactions, including but not limited to sale, purchase, leasing agreements, mortgage, encumbrances, lodgement of registered instruments, discharge of mortgages and lodgements of caveats against property

  • Advised clients in relation to a wide variety of commercial contracts, sale and purchase of shares, settlement agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.

  • Advised directors and investors on compliance and regulatory issues, with a focus on business strategies, conflict of laws and cross-border transactions.

  • Advised corporate clients on contractual claims including lease and employment agreements.

  • Advised various clients on data protection rules (in particular on internal auditing on conformity issues and assessing previously adopted procedures to collect and manage data.
