Commercial litigation and arbitration (including corporate, banking and employment disputes)

We have acted for clients in local and cross border disputes. Our expertise covers contractual disputes, banking and finance , shareholder disputes, common law actions in misrepresentation, negligence and nuisance, defamation, employment, real and personal property and disputes involving partnerships and join ventures.

Building Construction and engineering litigation:

Our lawyers have specialist construction and engineering expertise and have acted for the key players in both the public and private sectors including owners, major contractors, specialist sub-contractors and suppliers as well as independent professionals such as architects, engineers, quantity surveyors and other professionals.

Property disputes (including Tenancies)

We have assisted Landlords and Tenants who have disputes with their tenancies. We also handle all types of disputes over the purchase and ownership of property, both real property and personal property. 

Insolvency Litigation

Our lawyers have advised and acted for companies in initiating and defending winding up proceedings, judicial management applications, as well as voluntary schemes of arrangement.

Our lawyers provide advice and representation in bankruptcy applications or in defending a bankruptcy application by creditors. We will also assist in determining whether an application for a DRS (Debt Repayment Scheme) may be more suitable for you in your circumstances.

Criminal litigation

We offer advice and representation in all criminal matters – both white and blue collar crimes. We have successfully acted for and defended clients who have been charged with Criminal Breach of Trust, Cheating, Money Laundering, Drug Offences, Statutory Offences and Traffic Offences.

Insurance litigation

Insurance litigation is a branch of civil law that involves the legal proceedings and disposition of insurance-related matters. Insurance litigation is primarily composed of disputes between insurers and policy holders, and in that capacity, encompasses every human activity from  industrial accidents to discrimination in the workplace. Our lawyers have regularly been called upon to advise clients on their rights and obligations under various types of insurance policies, as well as represent them in court proceedings against insurance companies.

MCST and Strata Title Disputes

The management of strata-titled condominiums and commercial properties is governed by the Building Maintenance and Strata Management Act (“BMSMA”). Our lawyers have regularly been called upon to advise building owners, managing agents, managing councils and/or residents of strata titled properties. We have also been instructed to appeared on behalf of clients in the Strata Titles Board, as well as the State Courts, in respect of such disputes.

Accidents, Medical Negligence and Personal Injury Litigation

If you are the victim of a road accident, industrial accident or medical negligence and sustained personal injuries or even death, you or your estate may be able to pursue compensation under common law and/or worker’s compensation. Our lawyers will be able to help you understand the quantum of damages that you are able to claim.

We regularly advise clients in the drafting and construction of wills, presumption of advancement and inter vivos gifts. We have acted for beneficiaries, executors, trustees and administrators in this area of dispute. 

Our team advises businesses on all aspects of the day to day management of their business, including general corporate governance and ensuring the business does not fall foul of the regulatory environment and internal corporate documents such as partnership and shareholder agreements, Memorandum and Articles of Association.

Wills

Probate and Letters of Administration

Our lawyers can assist you to obtain Grant of Probate and Grant of Letters of Administration to enable the executors to distribute the estate to the beneficiaries.

Lasting Powers of Attorney

Our lawyers can assist individuals to make a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) to appoint a trusted individual(s) to look after their personal welfare and/or property and affairs matters, in the event they lose their mental capacity.

Applications under the Mental Capacities Act

Where there is no Lasting Power of Attorney in place, and where your loved one has lost his/her mental capacity to manage his/her own financial affairs, we can assist the family member(s) in making an application to Court for the said member(s) to be appointed as the deputy(ies) to manage the finances, property and affairs of the mentally incapacitated loved one.

Deed Polls

We assist clients who wish to change their names by drafting deed polls

Powers of Attorney

We assist clients to prepare all forms of Power of Attorney in relation to property transactions (both sales and rental).

Commissioners for Oaths

We assist in administering oaths or affirmation in affidavits and statutory declarations for Singapore.

Notary Public

We assist clients to notarise documents, attesting the signature and execution of documents, administering any oath or affirmation, certifying true copies, etc..
